MVC Industry Overview
Machine Vision Consulting has developed applications for the Automobile industry. Specifically, the inspection of roller bearings and circuit boards for automatic brake systems.
Roller Bearing Inspection
The machine vision system inspects two categories of parts – automotive rollers and diesel rollers. There are three inspection stations. Stations 1 and 2 inspect the ID and OD of the parts (only station 1 is used for the smaller parts while both stations are used for the larger parts). Station 3 performs inspections on the end faces of the rollers.
System & Vision Requirements
- Inspection of automotive rollers which are smaller than 1.0” diameter and 0.5” length
- Inspection of diesel rollerswhich are between 1.0” and 2.0” in diameter and between 0.5” and 2.0” in length
- OD inspection of the roller for scratches, voids and blemishes
- ID inspection of the roller for scratches, voids and blemishes
- Inspection of the end flat surface ring of each end face for scratches, voids and blemishes. In addition, the width of the surface ring can be gauged.
- 120 parts per minute throughput
Vision Technology
- 2 Dalsa 1k Linescan cameras for station 1
