Roller Bearing Inspection

The machine vision system inspects two categories of parts – automotive rollers and diesel rollers. There are three inspection stations. Stations 1 and 2 inspect the ID and OD of the parts (only station 1 is used for the smaller parts while both stations are used for the larger parts). Station 3 performs inspections on the end faces of the rollers.

System & Vision Requirements

  • Inspection of automotive rollers which are smaller than 1.0” diameter and 0.5” length
  • Inspection of diesel rollerswhich are between 1.0” and 2.0” in diameter and between 0.5” and 2.0” in length
  • OD inspection of the roller for scratches, voids and blemishes
  • ID inspection of the roller for scratches, voids and blemishes
  • Inspection of the end flat surface ring of each end face for scratches, voids and blemishes. In addition, the width of the surface ring can be gauged.
  • 120 parts per minute throughput

  • 2 Dalsa 1k Linescan cameras for station 2
  • 2 High Resolution FireWire Digital Cameras for station 3
  • All 6 cameras controlled from one PC
