Evaluation

Machine Vision Consulting (MVC) is excited to evaluate any machine vision request. Before entering into a service agreement, MVC assesses your vision needs by reviewing your vision requirements and determining the service that will best meet your needs. We then provide an easy-to-understand quotation. This assessment phase is free of charge.

Since vision is complex in nature, we require detailed information to evaluate your specific requirements. This information enables us to commit to a fixed schedule and price.

  1. Vision Software requirements such as discrete inspections, dimensional gauging, calibration, and User Interface
  2. Input/Output requirements such as acquisition trigger, results reporting mechanism (discrete, serial, or Ethernet), PLC communication, factory broadcast system, database, communication protocol, 3rd party software, and 3rd party hardware.
  3. Performance requirements such as the speed, reject rates, accuracy, repeatability, and precision. The speed of the application is usually specified in terms of time allowed per part (or parts per unit time). Reject rates are usually specified as false accepts and false rejects. The false accept rate is defined as the number of parts with a defect passed by the Machine Vision System as good, divided by the total number of inspected parts, for a given production run. The false reject rate is defined as the number of good parts rejected by the Machine Vision System as bad, divided by the total number of inspected parts, for a given production run.
  4. Special deliverables which may include documentation, training, and installation.
  5. Schedule

MVC uses the information above to produce an initial system architecture and vision methodology. We then provide you with an estimate for the scope of work in terms of schedule and price. If desired, MVC will conclude the evaluation phase of the project with a formal proposal.
